The Butterfly Bend is a real easy knot to tie two ropes together. We use the Alpine Butterfly already in our rigging and to isolate a damaged part in the rope. And the Butterfly happens to be one of my favorite knots. I have used it many times, because the Butterfly bend is so easy and quick to tie. A lot quicker than the Flemish Bend with a bight shown in the previous “”how to join ropes together” video. Under normal use it is perfect to use as a bend and quickly tie two ropes together….
Or is it… Check out HowNOT2 ‘s video mentioned in the pinned comment for more information and what you need to know about the Alpine Butterfly knot!

Check him out, he makes some cool stickers and shirts. I have nothing to gain by mentioning Ryan. I just like what he does and this way I might be able to help him out a little.
Ropes by Courant. They send them to me to test, so that is what I am doing. So far so good. Especially this Ultima for tying knots 😉
